Add & Manage Sermons #
1. Add new sermon
From the WordPress dashboard hover over ‘Sermons’ and click ‘Add New’.
2. Enter sermon title
You’re now editing your first sermon! The first thing to do is enter your sermons title.
2. Add sermon text
Next, in the content editor add your sermons text.
Some of you might be saying ‘There is no sermon date”. You’re correct, your sermon date is assigned by the post date. If you’re uploading sermons from an old website simply edit the post date to assign the correct date. Why did you do it this way? Simple, this is a great way to make sure all search engines pull the correct date the sermon was preached on. If we created a custom meta field, Google would’nt be able to recognize this and would show the incorrect sermon date.
5. Assign sermon speaker
If you’re familiar with WordPress and how to assign a category to a post, this works in the same fashion. While creating or editing a sermon, on the right hand side you will see a metabox called ‘Speakers’. This box will dynamically populate all the speakers , simply select the speaker you wish to assign to that sermon.
6. Assign sermon topic
While creating or editing a sermon, on the right hand side you will see a metabox called ‘Topics’. This box will dynamically populate all the topics, simply type the name of the topic you wish to assign to that sermon.
7. Assign sermon series
While creating or editing a sermon, on the right hand side you will see a metabox called ‘Series’. This box will dynamically populate all the series, simply select the series you wish to assign to that sermon.
8. Upload sermon image
Right under the metabox ‘Series’ you will see a metabox called ‘Sermon Image’. Here you can upload and assign an image to your sermon. The sermon image will display on the archive listings of your website and as the banner image on the single sermons page.
8. You are all done!
Hit ‘Publish’ and you will have offically created your first sermon! Cue the that was easy button
Manage Sermons #
1. Manage & edit sermons
From the WordPress dashboard hover over ‘Sermons’ and click ‘All Sermons’. From this page you can edit, filter, and delete your sermons. You can also use the ‘Quick Edit’ feature to change the sermon speaker, topic, and series directly on this page. If you have the pro version of Advanced Sermons (make sure duplicate post is enabled in settings) you will also see an option called ‘Duplicate’. This allows you to duplicate existing sermons to quickly create sermons in the same series or with similar content.
